Some while ago now, I had a conversation with my old friend, Frank, that has a profound and exciting impact on both our lives.
We’ve been friends for years, having met when we were both struggling musicians. We also worked together as music promoters and briefly in the ‘movie biz’ as product placement specialists.
Frank went onto specialise by focusing his creative talents on a career as a writer whilst I progressed my skills into a successful business consultancy.
I have always kept in touch with my own creative juices by continuing to write and record music and released an album, Episodes’ a couple of years ago.
Frank’s writing was yet to make a major breakthrough and I knew that between us we possessed the skills to do something about that. A quick conversation led us to setting up Arrondissement Films with the stated goal of producing our own films, with Frank providing the screenplays.
Firstly, not only is “Go With God” a fantastic piece of writing – but with a run time of circa 24-27 minutes and located solely in a prison cell, it was selected as a perfect piece to produce on a micro-budget.
Our first step was to start putting together the strongest possible team of ‘creatives’ that we could find. Frank was able to use his network of friends and professional contacts to put together some really strong talent that is pushing this project forward. We now have post-production sorted, along with a superb script editor. A top photo-journalist will be following our production and a network TV producer is working closely with us to prepare the crowd-funding pitch on Indigogo (launch date Dec 1st 2012)
I was able to bring in someone from my professional network who specialises in PR and social media marketing – she is going to play a vital role in helping us to get the word out given the way the ‘publicity’ world has changed so much since we were last promoters (no more fly-posting for us!!)
Frank has the good fortune to have a brother who works in web design and who has done some amazing work for us already in setting up our web presence for both “Go with God” and the parent company, Arrondissement Films. He has been an amazing help and obviously, we are milking the family connection like crazy!
So, here we are now, firmly in the pre-production cycle of our first film production. It’s been a great start to the journey, and we are constantly being kept on our toes by all the things we are putting in place… and all the things we are learning along the way.
We are having some really positive conversations with other wonderfully talented individuals and we will be bringing you news of how the technical creative team is shaping up very soon. The casting process begins in the new year and will no doubt present us with some more exciting challenges… but it’s all good!
So, overall progress to date has been fantastic but there is still a long way to go,
Go with God… a film – COMING SOON
