Just a quick update.
Whilst there is nothing major to report in our progress – which can sometimes feel like we are not ‘getting there’ fast enough – John and I recently talked through our progress and discovered that the key thing we were maintaining was our momentum.
It might not sound like much, but in any film production process there is always going to times where there is a lull in the big stuff… and it is more about how YOU cope with those lulls!
Yes, of course, there are always jobs to be done, but one of the key virtues to develop is patience.
When you are trying to work collaboratively on something, building a team around you, it is not always possible for everything to happen exactly when you want it to.
A point in case – a recent conversation with a DoP we are talking to. We wanted an answer to an email the next day… he didn’t reply… we sulked [and assumed that he was not interested]… we sulked some more… and a little while later… we hear back from the DoP… he’s been really busy working (because he’s v good at his job)… but still in the loop… AND… because he’s good… he wasn’t prepared to just skim through our stuff… so we needed to be a little more patient!!
Because I happen to think that our project is the most important thing in the world – there is no other film out there that is more significant than this one – because I wrote it
But that’s for me to think… and the rest of you to judge… when we get it out there – with the right team all working together – we will have achieved everything we wanted to.
So, working on my ego, my patience and my timing… and still getting fidgety!!!
