One of the problems you discover when you decide to produce a film is the obsession that suddenly appears in your life.
All conversations are now punctuated with references to the production… doesn’t matter what you’re talking about, you can still turn things back onto the movie…
“Hey, did you see that goal on Saturday, great wasn’t it!”
“Yeah, I saw the goal. Really good build up beforehand… it’s like what we’re trying to do with this film… you know, get all the groundwork done perfectly so that when…”
“Oh, sorry, Mate, I’ve just got to go now!”
It’s not good to become too one-track minded when doing anything. No matter how passionately I feel about the film, I am also trying to keep myself distracted by some of the other pleasures in life.
I am lucky, because I am a big foodie (literally and figuratively!) and so I can take time to chill out and relax just by cooking dinner in the evening.
I know John burns off a lot of distractions down at the gym (something I should definitely consider), but there are also things you come across that just immediately draw your attention.
So, check out these models… [and you should note that I’m not associated with this company or site at all – I just thought they were really cool!]
I don’t know if it’s because I used to build Airfix models of tanks and planes when I was a kid, but these things really caught my imagination… which is where all of our creativity stems from… so, technically, by looking at things like this… stimulating my imagination and creativity… well, clearly I am working on the film! No?? Are you sure??
In that case, back to the technical research regarding the kit list we are going to put together for the shoot. It’s not as cool as spending the afternoon making that really cool bi-plane, but, what the hell! We’re making a movie… that’s kind of cool!
PS Don’t tell John I was slacking!
